"I think that there was a fight when the Co got sold and that caused or added to the need to move over to the US. G grand mom Mary "C" lived in a big house with staff before she met John Murray. The family thought she was marrying below herself and that was a problem.

When John Sr. died John Jr got the family CO Mary got cash and that how they played [sic] to moved [sic] here. Mary worked with her dad behind the seen [sic] and John M worked for him at the CO, they knew how to run the CO and make a lot of cash. John Jr new [sic] how to party and spend cash. When he got the co he would not lisen [sic] to her and "her common husband" she got mad at him let him run the CO into the ground, refused to give him cash, bridge burned

She moved to Ireland with her husband and kids then to the US in Jan 1910. She was a lady and lived that way the rest of her life so the real story was only told after her death. John Murray told my grand mom & mom about Scotland and what went down. My Grandmom (Willina) told me." -- William A. Hoefling.2
