Johanne Marie Eriksdatter Vik was born on 17 April 1868 at Stryn, Sogn og Fjordane, NorwayB,G.1,2,3 She was the daughter of Erik Sjursen Vik and Brita Iversdatter .1

Johanne Marie Eriksdatter Vik married Rasmus Nelson circa 1891 at Minnesota or South Dakota (probably), USAB,G.4

Johanne Marie Eriksdatter Vik married Rasmus Anderson Muri circa 1899 at South Dakota (probably), USAB,G.5

Johanne Marie (Vik Nelson) Anderson married Matt Jurgenson, son of Jørgen Rasmusson Sindre and Martha Garbrandtsdatter Gillestad, on 20 August 1902 at Clarkfield Village, Yellow Medicine, Minnesota, USAB,G, at age 34.6
Johanne Marie Eriksdatter Vik died on 11 January 1960 at Faribault, Rice, Minnesota, USAB,G, at age 91.6,7
Johanne's obituary was published in the Clarkfield Advocate on 14 January 1960 at Clarkfield, Yellow Medicine, Minnesota, USAB,G.6 Her obituary states
"At the age of 23, Johanna came to America and made her first stop at the home of her uncle, Arne Iverson. She worked in homes in the community as did most of the young immigrants at that time."6

"Johanne Marie was the first of the seven daughters to come to America, coming to Clarkfield in Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. She married three times. Arden's father was Rasmus Anderson. Her third husband, Matt Jurgenson, was the father of Mildred, Judith, Erling and Bennett. We called her Shanna and she was a very hard working woman, being on the farm with a big family and very concerned about her two nieces and nephew after her sister, Oline, died. Matt Jurgenson brought four children to this marriage: Martha, Jorgen, Martin and Severin." -- Grønevik, Alma Stewart (1987) in 1987.8

"Johanna, 3rd [sic] oldest, was married twice. First [sic] husband, Rasmus Muri, passed away in 1901. She and her young son, Arden, returned to Norway and stayed one year. Arden farms the home place at Clarkfield. Returning from Norway, Johanna married Matthias Jorgenson. They had four children: Mildred, Judy, Erling, and Bennet." -- Reggie Vick.9

"We always called Johanne "Shanna," which I imagine is a child's way of saying Johanna. She was a wonderful cook; her kitchen always smelled so good. One year she came to Portage and helped Mother make quilts. Our living room was full of quilting frame for weeks." -- Betty Stewart.10

The Ole Henden family had a complicated relationship with Matt and Johanne Jurgenson's family. Alma lived with her uncle and aunt Matt and Johanne after her mother Oline died, and knew the Jurgenson children fairly well. Although Matt's older children aren't (immediately) related by blood to Alma, she thought of them as cousins just like the younger Jurgensons. She called them "shirttail relations".

Alma's daughter Betty got reacquainted with Martin and Annie's sons Bob and Harris in Oregon in the 1980s, as well as Tom Beldin and Carole Hanson, Milla's and Judy's children respectively.11
