Clarence Sylvester Rosetter was born on 28 April 1905 at Granite Falls, Yellow Medicine, Minnesota, USAB,G, Born at parents' home.1,2 He was the son of Louis C. Rosetter and Bertine Magdalene Hagen.2,3
Clarence Sylvester Rosetter married Bertha Ellen Henden, daughter of Ole Abrahamson Henden and Oline Eriksdatter Vik, on 28 June 1930 at Bergen Church, Stony Run Township, Yellow Medicine, Minnesota, USAB,G, at age 25.4
Clarence Sylvester Rosetter died on 4 June 1992 at Stony Run Township, Yellow Medicine, Minnesota, USAB,G, at age 87 at home.5,1,6 He was buried in 1992 at Bergen Church Cemetery, Stony Run Township, Yellow Medicine, Minnesota, USAB,G.6
"Dad was born at the place where he died. When he was born, there was a different house there - a typical wood frame building. He was born in 1904 and the big, concrete block and stucco house wasn't built 'til around 1916-19. I think Verna would know the exact completion year because the Rosetter family celebrated the 50th birthday of the house for one of the Rosetter Christmases. I think the replaced house was located where the entrance to the garage is now. I think I saw a photo of it once, but I'm not sure. Maybe Verna has kept track of it.
The new house was built by the time Dad married at which time his dad, Louis purchased the quarter where Richard now lives. Roy Rosetter, being the eldest son, inherited Louis' farm and farmed it until he died. After Richard got married, he and Joan lived in a little house down by the river in Granite Falls for awhile, with Richard commuting to the farm. However, sometime after I left for college, Mom and Dad moved out of the place where I grew up to allow Richard and Joan to move in there. Mom and Dad moved into a place about three miles toward Clarkfield. They fixed up that Victorian farmhouse real nice. I was in college and the Navy when they lived there so I really never lived in it.
After Roy's death in about 1965 or '66, Dad bought Roy's farm from the other brothers and sisters. After the work they put into the new place, I think Mother hated to move into the old, big Rosetter place, but it was emotionally important to Dad (plus being handier to farm with Richard). They sold the farm they lived at for this short time to Ole Velde who had been my "next door" neighbor to the south as I grew up. I was in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba at the time of Roy's death and I have never been in that place since Dad and Mom moved out. Ole and his wife are smart, modern people; I hope they took good care of it." -- Paul Rosetter, Feb. 22, 2001.3
