"Carole was a tenured professor in the Recreation/Leisure Studies Department at The University of Northern Iowa, in Cedar Falls. In the fall of 1990 she spent her sabbatical at the University of Oregon, so we got re-acquainted, to the delight of both of us. Both of us have degrees in recreation, and we shared an interest in music.
In January of 1993, she had a hip replaced. She had suffered from breast cancer and thought she was recovered, but in 1997 the cancer returned." -- Betty Stewart.4
