"Johanne is a small, quick woman, very talkative. She is in her 90's and is in a nursing home. She and her family lived on a mountainous island [Barmen] where they had carried all the supplies for a house and a barn up on their backs. When we were there they lived in a new house close to the water. They were growing potatoes and fruit. Fish from the ocean were delicious cooked for our dinner. They had a "special" daughter, Ingfried [sic], who was very large but was a big help to them. She was also a help to me one evening. The van had stopped at the edge of a ditch so I could take pictures. It was hard to get back into the van so she took me by the seat and hoisted me in." -- "Grønevik" (Alma Henden Stewart, Feb 1987.)5
