Hennes of Santa Barbara, CA, (where she resided for 42 years), to the Copper Country. "Miss Hennes recalled the tragic days which witnessed her Dad (Joseph Hennes) being shot at a half-way house between Houghton and Ontonagon. As a result of the wound he passed away in 1897." on 31 August 1957.5
