John Walker Sr.1

     "The Walker family decided to come to America in the Spring of 1831. The family, mother, father and six children set sail from Port Derry, Ireland. It was not a very large ship. After a month of fair sailing they landed at Quebec. From there they went down the St Lawrence river to Montreal and the to the Province of Ontario. they settled on some government land in Matilda Township, Dundas County.

Some friends came over on the same ship and others followed them the next summer. Among these were the Keys family. They settled near each other and their children grew up together and some married." -- Geri Redmond.1
