     George Washington Stewart was born on 14 September 1812 at Westmoreland, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania, USAB,G.2,3,4 He was the son of Joseph Stewart and Sarah Jane (?)1

     George Washington Stewart married Sophia A. Kling, daughter of Georg Adam Kling and Mary (?), on 20 June 1833 at Elkhart, Elkhart, Indiana, USAB,G, at age 20.2

According to the History of La Grange and Noble, Indiana Counties published in 1882, "Other tavern keepers have been...G. W. Stewart" circa 1846 at Wolf Lake, Noble, Indiana, USAB,G.5 George Washington Stewart was a stage coach proprietor and tavern owner in 1850.2,6 He was a H. keeper in 1856 at Clayton, Clayton, Iowa, USAB,G.7 He was a tailor in June 1860 at Rochester, Olmsted, Minnesota, USAB,G.8
     George Washington Stewart and Sophia A. Kling were divorced on 16 December 1875 at Rochester, MNB,G.9,10 George Washington Stewart was a tailor in trade in June 1880 at Rochester, MNB,G.11 He was a tailor in May 1895 at Rochester, MNB,G.12
     George Washington Stewart died on 19 October 1896 at Rochester, MNB,G, at age 84 of senility.13,14 He was buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Rochester, Olmsted, Minnesota, USAB,G.
