Edward's obituary was published in Spokane Chronicle on 28 February 1905 at Spokane, Spokane, WashingtonB,G.5 His obituary states
"The funeral of Ed Kratzer was held yesterday afternoon from the Centenary Presbyterian church. It was one of the largest attended funerals held in the city for some time. Prior to his death the deceased was in the employ of the Great Northern company as a clerk. Practically all of the office force in the Great Northern depot were in attendance.
Mr. Kratzer died at his home, 01212 Colville street, Saturday from acute stomach trouble. He was 23 years old and had lived in Spokane with his parents for 17 years. He was one of the most popular employes with his company. The floral tribute of the railroad boys was beautiful. The National Iron works were closed down on account of the funeral. J. L. Kratzer, the father of the young man, is in the employ of the latter company."5
